Principal Women's Roles
LAUREY WILLIAMS: Soprano (middle C# - high A). Very Independent, stubborn, and a bit of a tomboy.  Aunt Eller’s niece.  She loves Curly but is too proud to admit this at first.
ADO ANNIE CARNES: Soprano/ Mix or Mezzo/ Mix (C – E, opt. F). A slightly promiscuous flirt.  Ditzy and a bit gullible.  Laurey’s best friend.  Promised to Will Parker…. but intrigued by Ali Hakim.
AUNT ELLER: Mezzo (low F – E) Down to earth with a great sense of humor.  Matriarch of the community.  Laurey’s aunt.
Featured Women's Roles
GERTIE CUMMINGS: Soprano or Mezzo.  A silly and flirtatious girl who desperately wants to get married.  She has a distinctive laugh. Also in the female ensemble.
DREAM LAUREY: Exceptional female dancer with significant ballet/ modern, and/or lyrical jazz training (partnering experience a plus).  Principal dancer in the “Dream Ballet”.  Will most likely also be cast in the female ensemble.  
Ensemble Women
ELLEN, KATE, SYLVIE, ARMINA, AGGIE & ADDITIONAL ENSEMBLE: All voice types needed.  All women in the ensemble will dance in “Farmer & the Cowman.”  May also dance in the “Dream Ballet”.   Seeking at least two featured dancers who will dance in “Kansas City” and “All ‘er Nothin’”

11 – 13 women in the Cast.  We will also cast understudies for principal and feature roles (these may be cast from within or without the ensemble) and swings (ensemble understudies). 

DANCERS -- We may cast 1 – 2 dancers who will ONLY appear in the “Dream Ballet.”  This is an excellent way for interested dancers to be involved in the musical.  If interested you should come to the Dream Laurey audition on October 18 in Godwin.  Dancers may also be considered for Dream Laurey if they choose.  See Suzanne Miller-Corso for details.      

Principal Men's Roles
CURLY: Lyric Baritone (C# - F#). A proud, likeable, but slightly arrogant ranch hand who loves Laurey.  
WILL PARKER: Lyric Baritone or Tenor (D – F). Strong comedic actor/ singer/ dancer.  A first place steer roper who wants to marry Ado Annie. Not the fastest on the uptake… he and Ado Annie are made for each other.  Must be a strong dancer. 
JUD FRY: Bass/Baritone (D – C#). A hired hand on Laurey and Aunt Eller’s farm.  Wants Laurey for himself.  Brooding, mysterious and dangerous.
ALI HAKIM: Strong comedic actor who sings.  Not native to the Oklahoma Territory.  Traveling peddler.  He is referred to as “Persian.”  
Featured Men's Roles
ANDREW CARNES: Baritone or Tenor (E – F). Ado Annie’ father. Not particularly fond of Will Parker.
Ensemble Men
CORD ELAM, IKE SKIDMORE, FRED, SLIM, ADDITIONAL ENSEMBLE: All voice types needed. All men in the ensemble will dance in “Farmer and the Cowman.”  May also dance in the “dream ballet.”

11 – 13 men in the cast.    There is no “Dream Curly” or “Dream Jud.”  The actors cast in these roles will also play those characters in the “Dream Ballet.”

We will also cast understudies for principal and feature roles (these may be cast from within or without the ensemble) and swings (ensemble understudies).
